Mill museum in Saarburg

Saarburg

Below the waterfall in Saarburg, the waterwheels of the Hackenberger Mill from the 13th/14th centuries are turning. Originally, there were an oil mill, a bark mill, and a grain mill in operation here. Grain was ground here until 1974. In the cellar of the mill, visitors can see the many gears that are connected to the grinding stone on the upper floor via a leather belt. In the upper rooms, various grinding works and other devices can be seen that gradually produce finer flour from the ground grains. Film screening: "From Grain to Flour."

NEW: With the audio tour (audio tour in German), guests can learn more about the Hackenberger Mill and the work of the miller. Also new is an electronic functional model that represents the path of the water up to the grinding of the grain. There is a museum quiz for children (in German, English, French, and Dutch).

Info: Guided tours for groups are available upon request.
