In the winter months, when a fire crackles in a certain building and a veil of pleasant-smelling vapours spreads, it is easy to recognise that this is where the distiller does his work. The work of distilling schnapps is not open to everyone, but only to those who have a special licence to do so, the so-called distilling right. The Michel Hutmacher estate has held the distilling right for generations and is dedicated to the production of very high quality brandies.
