Jazz music in the spirit of Bach - a conversation across the ages, where Johann Sebastian Bach comes alive as a passionate, joyous, and relaxed person of our time! The music of the organ virtuoso, chapel master, and cantor Johann Sebastian Bach is considered the epitome of great, technically perfect, un-improvable music.

Nevertheless, or perhaps precisely because of this, it has always been a subject of constant reworking and rethinking for its creator, and it has remained so for generations of composers and interpreters. In particular, its rhythmic drive has inspired many jazz musicians to create their own versions. As a boundary crosser between classical music and jazz, as a gifted singer on trumpet and flugelhorn, Daniel Schmahl achieves a dreamily stylistically secure evolution of Bach's melodies and formal artistry into the world of jazz.

Whether he varies one of the most beautiful melodies, the "Air" from the 3rd Orchestral Suite by Johann Sebastian Bach, or challenges the motoric elemental force of the "Dorian Toccata" for organ with his own arrangements and improvisations by Prof. Karl Ludwig Kreutz, among others, or transforms the prelude from the Partita in B-flat major into a happily swinging angel concert: His approach is always extremely virtuosic, singable, and imaginative!
