Organ matinee
29. August 2026
Organist from Rome performs at the Laurentius Church.
It is one of the most beautiful churches in Italy and one of the five so-called patriarchal basilicas of Rome, those churches where the Pope presides over the service at least once a year; moreover, it is the burial church of the Apostle of the Nations, Paul: The basilica of St. Paul Outside the Walls in the eternal city of Rome. At this famous place, the organist Christian Almada performs his duty. And as distinguished as his position is, so is his expertise.
The native Argentine received his first academic training at the conservatory in Cordoba and supplemented his studies at the Pontifical Institute for Church Music in Rome. He specializes in the field of Gregorian chant. Teaching activities have taken him all over Italy, to Spain, and to the USA. From 2004 to 2010, he was Maestro di Coro and first cantor at the Benedictine College of St. Anselmo in Rome.
Since 2008, he has been the titular organist at St. Paul Outside the Walls and is responsible for all church music at the basilica through the Office of Church Music, which he founded in 2015.
In his organ concert in Saarburg, Almada presents a varied selection of pieces that fit wonderfully into the space and the sound of the organ.
Admission is free. At the end of the concert, donations are requested.
