Guided Tour "Paths to the Cultural Plateau during Celtic and Roman Times"

As part of the "Heritage Open Day®" under the motto "Networks: Monuments & Infrastructure," the State Monument Klause will open on Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. (last admission at 3:30 p.m.) with free entry.

Guided Tour "Paths to the Cultural Plateau Kastel-Staadt during the Celtic and Roman Period"
Join guest guide Hans-Jürgen Knopp for an informative tour. Along the way, you will gain exciting insights into the local attractions. You will learn why the Celts settled in Kastel-Staadt and transformed it into an oppidum, which paths once led to the plateau, and how they changed after the Roman conquest.

The burial place of the Blind King John of Bohemia is a masterpiece of the famous Prussian architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel and is therefore one of the most significant monuments in the Saar-Obermosel region.

The Heritage Open Day® takes place every second Sunday in September. The action day is coordinated nationwide by the German Foundation for the Protection of Monuments (DSD). Since 1999, the DSD has been placing the Heritage Open Day under a different motto each year.
