On the banks of the Moselle in Konz-Karthäus there is an attractive leisure area with a large play boat for children, barbecue areas with stone seating and natural stone steps along the water.

Marketplace

The market square is the centre of the town. A striking feature is the large fountain made of polished granite, whose lively water movement varies in many different ways. The fountain has the function of a water feature and invites visitors to cool off on sunny days. The Constantine base is a replica and was produced on the occasion of the Constantine exhibition in Trier in 2007. The original is in the Capitoline Museum in Rome. A fruit and vegetable market is held on the market square on Saturdays.

Karthaus Abbey

The abbey was originally built in 1331 by Archbishop Balduin of Luxembourg in Trier, outside the city walls. In the French-Palatinate war in 1674 the abbey was destroyed.

Oil Mill

Below the local entrance to Niedermennig (coming from the direction of Konz) in the Konz valley is an old oil mill from the 19th century, which is of great historical technical significance. Rapeseed and nuts were the main items milled, during the two wars beechnuts were increasingly used. From 1943-1949 the oil mill was out of operation. It was then restored and put back into operation until it was finally decommissioned in 1967. Since the start of the 90s the mill has been determinedly restored and returned to its original condition. Meanwhile the slate rubble building has been repaired to an exemplary level and fitted with a new millwheel. Parts of the former technical equipment are contained in the interior. After completion of the works, the mill and wheelwork, which are up and running again, and the new pool system can be viewed.
