Winery Michael and Patrick Philipps

As early as 2011, we began to expand the local delivery business. Various new plantings, leasing agreements, and purchases allowed the once small hobby business to grow to its current size of 14 hectares of primary operation. After completing our winemaker training and studying viticulture in Geisenheim, we finally vinified the 2014 harvest as our first own vintage in the small home cellar. In the first year, we already marketed 10,000 bottles.

The vineyard locations extend around the town of Ayl with its world-famous site "Ayler Kupp." Other sites of the winery are located in "Saarburger Kupp," "Kanzemer Sonnenberg," and "Wawerner Ritterpfad," which are characterized by their steep slopes and blue Devonian slate. 

The classic grape varieties of the Saar are also represented in our winery. Thus, we cultivate 95% Riesling in steep locations, with vineyards that are partly over 70 years old. The remaining 5% consists of Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and a little Müller-Thurgau.
