Mouth of the Saar in Konz

The Moselle and Saar rivers originate in France and meet after a long journey through varied landscapes in Konz. The two rivers give their names to our holiday region and have shaped a unique landscape. At the mouth of the Saar, there is a triangular sculpture as a place of calm and meditation. Shielded from external influences, you can take a seat in the stone. Inside the stone, it is quieter, and the sound of water is amplified.

The Saar originates in France with its source rivers "Red" and "White Saar" on the northern slope of the Vosges. The total length of the Saar from its source to its mouth into the Moselle is 227 km, of which 117 km flow through France. Over a distance of 11 km, the Saar forms the border between France and the state of Saarland. 68 km of the Saar are located in Saarland, which gave it its name. Finally, the Saar flows through 31 km of Rhineland-Palatinate before it merges into the Moselle at Konz as the largest tributary.
The Moselle springs from the Col de Bussang in the Vosges at an elevation of 735 m above sea level. It is the largest tributary of the Rhine, into which it flows after a course of 544 km at Koblenz. From its source to the border town of Apach, it flows through France for 302 km. It then forms a joint border between Luxembourg and Germany for 36 km. Below the mouth of the Sauer, it flows for over 206 km on German territory to Koblenz.
