On this tour with great views, you will discover what the Celts, Romans, and Franks have left behind. The visible history continues through the Middle Ages and into modern times. Listen to anecdotes about the renowned architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel, the blind King John of Bohemia, and King Friedrich Wilhelm IV of Prussia. The tour is also suitable for children and families, lasts about 2 hours, and can be extended with a visit to the rocks and (if open) a visit to the chapel (admission fee).

On a sandstone plateau, high above the Saar, lies the “Klause” of Kastel-Staadt with fascinating views over the Saar Valley. The former Celtic-Roman refuge and hermit's dwelling was converted into a burial church for the blind King Johann of Bohemia by the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. through his architect Karl Friedrich von Schinkel. This created one of the most significant examples of Romanesque architecture.
