Discover the Klause on a guided tour!
During the open tour of the state monument with guide Hans-Jürgen Knopp, participants will learn exciting details about the origins and significance of the Klause, whose roots stretch back to the 13th century.
In the early 17th century, a Franciscan monk built a two-story chapel. Later, Friedrich Wilhelm IV. transformed the ruin into a grave chapel for King John of Bohemia, who fell in the Battle of Crécy in 1346.
The architect Karl Friedrich Schinkel designed the chapel in a romantic style. The king's remains were there until 1946, when they were transferred to the Cathedral of Luxembourg.
The Klause is considered a highlight of German Romanticism and is part of a monument zone that includes other historical sites.
The view from there over the Saar Valley is unique.
Cost: 5 €/Adults, 2.50 €/Children 6 - 16 years plus admission to the Klause.
