Biodiversity Week 2027

6. May 2027

What lives between vines and dry stone walls?
What special plants and animals can be discovered right outside our front door?
And what can we do to keep the unique wine and cultural landscape of the Mosel alive?

This is the focus of the "Week of Biodiversity" from May 6 to 17, 202, to which the Service Center for Rural Areas (DLR) Mosel, in collaboration with the regional initiative Fascination Mosel, Mosel wine e.V., and Mosel Land Tourism GmbH, invites.

Wawern

The dry stone wall in the Jesuitenberg in Wawern has separated the vineyard from a sunken path for more than a hundred years. On its sunlit side, lizards cavort, a praying mantis waits for prey.

Leuchtpunkt Wehrer Rosenberg - Wall Landscapes

Palzem

Cultivated terraces in viticulture are rare along the Upper Moselle. One of the few locations with terraced farming on the German side of the Moselle is the Rosenberg location in Wehr.

Nitteler Fels Nature Reserve

Nittel

The Nitteler Fels Nature Reserve is located between Nittel and Wellen. Towering dolomite and limestone rocks create an impressive panorama and provide a habitat for endangered plants and animals, particularly for birds, insects, reptiles, bats and orchid species.
