With marbles against forgetting
8. November 2026
Lecture series on civil courage "Resistance and Solidarity".
With films, discussion evenings, and lectures addressing forms of resistance against injustice and acts of solidarity, the initiative "Eyes Open Against Anti-Semitism and Other Forms of Group-Related Hostility" from the Local Alliance for Family e.V. aims to inspire courage for the questions of our time.
Staged reading with cello in memory of Gerd Klestadt.
On November 9 and 10, 1938, National Socialists attacked Jewish shops, synagogues, and homes across the Reich; many Jewish women and men were arrested or murdered. In our district as well, people were assaulted, beaten, and taken away from their homes. We want to commemorate them on this day.
Furthermore, we remember the German-Luxembourg Holocaust survivor Gerd Klestadt, who fled to the Netherlands with his family, was arrested in 1943, and deported to the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp via Westerbork. His father was murdered there, and his grandmother in Sobibor. Gerd narrowly survived with his mother and brother. Later, he spoke for over 20 years at schools about his story and reached more than 20,000 young people in several countries.
Dr. Kathrin Mess and actress Martina Roth present his life in a staged reading, musically accompanied by cellist Angela Simons.
