For Resistance, there is no manual part 2

15. October 2026

Lecture series on civil courage "Resistance and Solidarity".

With films, discussion evenings, and lectures focusing on forms of resistance against injustice and on acts of solidarity, the initiative "Eyes Open Against Anti-Semitism and Other Forms of Group-related Human Hostility" of the Local Alliance for Family e.V. aims to encourage reflection on the questions of our time.

Brave women against National Socialism.

From 1933 to 1945, numerous women across borders resisted the Nazi regime. They printed and distributed illegal publications, collected money for families in need, hid deserters and refugees, and smuggled them across the border. Nevertheless, after 1945 they were mostly reduced to the role of helpers to their male relatives; their own achievements remained invisible for a long time – both in public and in research.

Who were these women, how were they socialized, and what does their socialization say about their forms of resistance? What do we know about them today, and how is their action remembered? What dominant narratives about female resistance exist in Germany, Luxembourg, and France?

Dr. Kathrin Mess describes in her lecture the stories of resistance, solidarity, and cross-border cooperation to honor the women and give them a face.

The entrance is free!
