Vernissage for the exhibition of Shogyo Mujo

The exhibition takes place as part of the cultural days of the Trier-Saarburg district and will be opened on Sunday, October 4, 2026 at 11 a.m.

Klaus Reeh will introduce the work in conversation with Dorothea Hölzer-Magar.
The exhibition runs from October 4 to November 1, 2026 and is open Fridays to Sundays from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., as well as by appointment.

Paul Magar always carried a pad of watercolor paper with him on his travels because he wanted to capture the immediacy of what he saw and experienced. But not like today through photography, which realistically captures everything, but as a watercolor artist who dedicates himself to this quick method of working, which ultimately also allows for no subsequent corrections, in order to give his works a possible alienating distance, instilling them with immediacy that the viewers can also feel.

The works explain the world in a specific way that is nonetheless not contrived or complicates the world, but is transformed into a new order from the artist's will. This order is not defined by realism or abstraction, but rather an individual pattern as a new structure with a memorable reading. The viewer sees the world anew with the sheets; they explain things differently, creating new connections.
