Altfels

The monumental Altfels in Kastel-Staadt is located freestanding in the middle of a forest area. A short climbing route allows for the ascent of the Altfels. Steep steps and a rope for safety lead 240 meters up. One should not have a fear of heights for this. On the rock plateau, climbers can expect a unique panoramic view of the Saartal at an elevation of 360 meters. The Altfels is located along the dream loop Kasteler Felsenpfad. Those who do not wish to hike the approximately 9 km can also reach the Altfels from the forest parking lot, on the L133 between Freudenburg and Taben-Rodt. From there, follow the signs for Felsenweg for about 1.5 km.
