Vernissage: Exhibition "FLORA COGNITA"

Under the title FLORA COGNITA, the Städtische Galerie Amüseum am Wasserfall is dedicating a comprehensive solo exhibition to the Nuremberg artist Katja Wunderling.
From October 11 to January 10, 2027, visitors are invited to discover the fascinating connection between nature, science, and subtle art. 

The opening will take place on Sunday, October 11, at 11 a.m. in the presence of the artist at the Amüseum am Wasserfall. Art enthusiasts and media representatives are cordially invited.

At the center of Katja Wunderling's individual works is the artistic engagement with the beauty, diversity, and at the same time the fragility of the plant world in all its facets. Whether seeds of spruce, alder, dandelion, stone seed, cotton grass, and beech mast, or flying umbrellas of the meadow goat's beard – the artist transforms seemingly unspectacular natural materials into ordered, new forms and imaginary plants.
 
Already the collecting, sorting, ordering, and preserving of plant parts is an essential part of her creative process. These object and material works are complemented by finely structured, colorful drawings as well as relief-like sculptures made from multiple layers of scratched transparent paper.
 
“Nature is an inexhaustible source of power and inspiration for me. Collecting, ordering, sorting, and preserving are essential components of my artistic activity. From these gathered 'treasures' such as meadow goat's beard, dandelion, spruce seeds, and lunaria – to name just a few – delicate drawings, installations, and assemblages develop. Through my works, I invite the viewer to discover the natural world from a new perspective and to empathize with its fragility and beauty in the ever-ongoing process of becoming and passing away,” explains Katja Wunderling.

The exhibition can be visited until January 10, 2027 during the opening hours of the Amüseum from Sunday to Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
