Recommended entry points: car park at the banks of the Moselle in Wincheringen or the sculpture on the banks of the Moselle in Palzem
The Roman hiking trail runs partially along the route of the former Roman street leading from Metz to Trier. The Roman military boot, the “caliga”, is the marker along the journey. A total of 24 information boards, made from blocks of local limestone, provide information on geological events along the Upper Moselle, the Romans and winegrowing.
The hiking trail has a total length of 34 km, which can be travelled in two loops. Entry can be either in Palzem or Wincheringen. The loop from Palzem is 21 km long, the loop from Wincheringen is 19 km.
Free leaflet with descriptions of the routes and map extracts is available from the tourist information offices in Konz and Saarburg.
