Grana Memorial, Wasserliesch
On hiking trail M (Moselle Ridgeway) between Konz-Könen and Wasserliesch
On the Grana terrace, on hiking trail M (Moselle Ridgeway) between Konz-Könen and Wasserliesch, is the Grana Memorial, which was erected in Wilhelminian times after the war of 1870-71. The memorial was named after General Grana, who was originally from Genoa and who was the commander of the imperial troops in Bonn in the time of Emperor Leopold. Grana became famous when he wiped out the French troops under Marshall Crequi in a battle at the Saar bridge near Konz on September 17th 1675. The Grana Memorial is not adorned with a statue of the general but with a mighty imperial eagle.
