Wasserliesch Orchid Paradise
A 6 km trail snakes its way over the hills south of Wasserliesch through limestone grasslands covered with orchids and other rare plants. The start of the loop walk is the hiking car park “Orchid Trail”, on the protected plateau of the Löschemer Berg. There is hardly a piece of land to be found in Germany with such a density of orchid species. Lady Orchid, Man Orchid, Lizard Orchid, Turk’s cap lily and even Great Yellow Gentian vie for the favour of attentive travellers. But it’s not just rare plants; numerous animals have also found their perfect habitat here.
Further information and a description of the route are available in the “Orchid Paradise” brochure and in the Saar-Upper Moselle hiking guide.
