A classic – the entry-level tour to get to know the Saar-Upper Moselle region

Day 1:


Arrive at pre-booked overnight accommodation in the wine region of Ockfen with its famous “Ockfener Bockstein” vineyard. Overnight stay.

Day 2:

Through the romantic Saar Valley (22 km)

The first stage leads along the Saar bike trail, past steep hillside vineyards, to the Taben-Rodt train station. There you’ll cross over to the other side of the river and cycle along a shady forest trail to the ceramic town of Mettlach (Villeroy & Boch, Montclair Castle). Overnight stay.

Day 3:

From the Saar to the Upper Moselle (40 km)

On the Saar bike trail you’ll cycle around the famous Saar Loop to Merzig (wolf park). Along the international sculptor symposium, “Stones on the Border”, the journey continues to the Upper Moselle to Perl. Overnight stay.

Day 4:

Upper Moselle with charm (40 km)

On the fourth day the journey continues on the Moselle bike trail to Nennig (Roman mosaic). The bike trail takes you along the Mediterranean-style Upper Moselle, with its idyllic wine towns, on to Konz at the confluence of the Saar and Moselle (Roscheider Hof, Roman imperial villa). Overnight stay.

Day 5:

Through little valleys and vineyards (27 km)

Through the romantic Konzer Tälchen, a former valley of the Moselle, you’ll cycle to the wine town of Wiltingen. Passing the Wilting Saar Loop nature reserve, you’ll reach Saarburg (make time for a tour of the city). Via Irsch you'll come through the Ockfener Bachtal to the departure point of the journey. Overnight stay in Ockfen.

Day 6:
