The former bell foundry Mabilon is the heart of today's KulturGießerei. Located below the castle and outside the city walls, Urbanus Mabilon founded a foundry in 1770, beginning a family tradition that lasted nearly three centuries. Bells were cast in Saarburg that found their way out into the whole world. Today, the bell foundry is owned by the city and preserved as a museum, cultural and meeting place. The museum traces the journey of a bell from the first to the last step, following in the footsteps of Urbanus Mabilon. Gorgeous pieces and items, some of which have been there since the 18th century, can be discovered.
