Pellingen (population 1,029)
Pellingen is situated on the western Hunsrück plateau and is still very much an agricultural place. In the entrenchments at Pellingen, the defenders of Trier and the attacking French troops had their final battle in 1794. In 1945 the area found itself in a similar position, when American units charged against the German resistance to the capture of Trier. A war memorial on the “Höthkopf" at the entrance to the area commemorates these battles.
