Kirf (population 810)

With the districts of Beuren and Meurich

The former Roman road led here through the Saargau via the mountain ridges and established the districts of Beuren, Kirf and Meurich.  The three formerly independent communities are today merged into the agricultural greater community of Kirf.

Meurich is the hometown of the well-known writer Maria Croon, who was born here on May 13th 1891. She wrote about real events in her locality, her likenesses and characters often really existed.

In front of the barbecue and mountain hut on the “Ehringerberg” there is a wonderful view over Saarburg country as well as the neighbouring countries of France and Luxembourg. A well-developed network of trails invites the visitor to take restorative walks among the charming valley landscape.

Experience Kirf:

Accommodation in bed and breakfast and holiday homes, barbecue facilities, pond systems, resting place of local writer Maria Croon, festival in October.
